The Company
Yves Bee Ltd (YBL) with its impressive track record was incorporated in 1993, and has since then established itself as a significant contributor to Consultancy Services in Water Supply and Sanitation, Environment, Waste Management, Roads and Structures in Nigeria. In the last few years YBL has also handled some Engineering projects on a turnkey basis i.e. Design and Construction.
The CEO of Yves Bee Ltd., Engr. B. U. Bassey has been actively involved in the Water Supply and Sanitation Industry in the last 34 years. Eight of these years were spent as the General Manager and Chief Executive officer of Cross River State Water Board, Calabar. He also served as the Team Leader for the development of Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project sponsored by the World Bank. As lead Consultant he contributed to the development of the National Water supply and Sanitation Policy in Nigeria.
Engr. B. U. Bassey participated as the Lead Engineer in the Private Sector Options Studies for Ogun State Water Corporation, Nigeria and Plateau State Water Board, Plateau State, Nigeria. The two projects were funded by the World Bank with Jacobs Babtie of UK as the Lead Consultant. He was also appointed by the World Bank as Sector Expert to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources for the preparation of Medium Term Development Strategy (2006 – 2008) for the Budget office of the Federal Ministry of Finance for the 2007 – 2009 MTSS Budget, Engr. Bassey was appointed by the UNDP/World Bank as Sector Expert for the Water Sectors.
At the beginning of year 2005, the African Development Bank contracted Engr.B.U.Bassey to carry out a rapid assessment of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Requirements for Meeting the MDG's in Nigeria. Towards the end of the same year, he was contracted by SLGP/DFID to develop Operation and Maintenance Guidelines for Rural Water Supply in Enugu State.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the Cross River State Water Board, he headed the negotiation team for sourcing the loans and grants from African Development Bank and the World Bank for the development of water supply systems for Calabar,Odukpani,Akampa, and other areas of Cross River State. He left the Civil Service in April, 1997 into private Engineering practice in the above Consulting outfit as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Engr.B.U. Bassey has since guided the company from inception in 1993 till date to undertake various technical studies on Water Supply and Sanitation, Civil Engineering Designs and Construction at various locations all over Nigeria.
The Technical Director Engr.E.O.Bassey has been actively involved in Civil, Highway and Structural Engineering Consultancy for over thirty years, during which he has worked in the Design/Project Management and Supervision offices of notable Engineering Consultants such as Ove Arup and Partners, Ibadan (1975-1982), Amana Consulting Engineers, Calabar (1982-1989),FMW/SNC Lavalin Project Management Unit for World Bank assisted Federal Highways/Bridges Rehabilitation and Asphalting Overlay projects in Nigeria(1995-1998), and Etim Bassey & Associates,Calabar.
Yves Bee Ltd handled the Study and Design of Drainage, Erosion and Flood Control Works at Mkpara Otop in Odukpani L. G. A, CRS, Nigeria and is currently Supervising the execution of the project.
The company has just concluded the Study and Design of Roads, Water Supply and Electricity of Five Residential Estates at Ikot Uduak, Ikot Effanga Mkpa I&II, Ikot Nkebre and Ikot Ekpo in Calabar CRS, Nigeria.
The Firm is currently handling the Engineering Supervision works of Oyan Dam Rehabilitation Project in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The Project is Funded by World Bank and FMAWR.
Furthermore the firm is carrying out a study on The Environmental Impact Assessment of Asaramatoru Oil & Gas Field in Rivers State
The Company was contracted by Marubeni Engineering (West Africa) Ltd as a Consultant to Design and Construct Water Supply Scheme for National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) Calabar Power Station, CRS, Nigeria. The project is on- going.
Yves Bee Ltd in Association with Tahal West Africa handled a Regional Water Supply and Sanitation Masterplan for the nine Niger Delta states. The project which was sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Authority (NDDC) included; collection of data of Water Supply and Sanitation Facilities within the region and development of a workable investment plan for rehabilitation of old schemes and construction of new ones.
The company was also appointed as Consultants by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources through the Cross River Basin Development Authority (CRBDA), to study and develop a Regional Water Supply and Sanitation Masterplan for the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State.
Yves Bee Ltd. designed the Ikot Abasi Water Supply Extension which was commissioned by Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Furthermore, Yves Bee Limited was contracted by WaterAid Nigeria to undertake an Urban Work Study for Kabong Jos, Plateau State. The objective of the study was provision of sustainable water supply and sanitation facilities for the urban poor in Kabong through a functional collaboration between the community, WaterAid and other stakeholders and to develop a functional structure for operation and maintenance of the scheme. The project also included the collection and mapping of baseline data for existing water supply and sanitation facilities in Kabong.
The firm prepared a Technical Field Manual for WaterAid operations in Nigeria.
Yves Bee Ltd. successfully carried out a Study on Independent Providers of Water and Sanitation Services in Akwa Ibom and Bauchi States of Nigeria. The Study was funded by the World Bank / GTZ (Germany).
Messrs Yves Bee Ltd has also conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment/Environmental Evaluation Report of Calabar Free Trade Zone, in Calabar, Cross River State for the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority.
The firm handled Dam Safety and Remedial Studies of Obudu and Oyan Dams in association with Jacobs Babtie (UK) as the lead partner
Yves Bee Ltd. was the Nigerian partner in a Consortium comprising Rodeco(Germany), BCEOM(France) and Arcadis (NetherIands) that handled the European Union funded Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform (Lot 3) for Jigawa, Kano and Yobe States of Nigeria.
The key staff of the firm comprising Registered Engineers, Chartered Accountants, Scientists, Sociologists and Economists have gathered extensive experience over the years in many aspects of Civil, Water and Sanitary Engineering practice, Environmental Impact Assessment and Post Impact Assessment of Projects and Socio-Economic research. The firm maintains a strong link with highly qualified and capable University Dons as short term Consultants in some specialized disciplines.
